Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify the basic elements of visual stimulus.
In the outset of this modual we were tasked with the development of mark making exercises to produce a wide array of visually interesting patterns, colours and textures.
These were then to be used in the development of our initial concepts. I combined images using various different layer modes and arranging them into various compositional layouts, until i felt i had created a visually interesting composition or a page of vivid colours and interesting shapes.

2 Enable students to use drawing and artistic techniques to describe and imaginary situations

Using the images and brushes i had created from the mark making sessions I started to create concepts using only the expressive images as a base. By doing this I could start to build random chaos of marks, colours and textures then begin to see narratives, characters and environments start to emerge from the mess.

3.Enable students to develop a clear and communicative drawing style.
Through this unique approach to artistic mark making I have discovered a hole new way to spontaneously produce conceptual artwork that can literally veer off into boundless possibilities.

4. Encourage the development of a portfolio of experimental drawings for interviews.
As mentioned above this modual has shown me the importance of experimentation in artwork. This approach to creating highly conceptual artwork has some very powerful advantages such as speed-painting  By laying down lots of images created from my mark making sessions I am able to create something new and interesting very quickly and due to the random nature of the excersize hole new ideas and concepts can emerge with minimal effort on my end.  Being able to create something new and exciting is a huge advantage in today's competitive industry and this is something i fully intend to exploit.
