I am liking these guys they appear demonic but fun at the same time I definitely want to produce one of my final pieces depicting these characters in a hellish dimension. Possibly revolving round an underworld theme which could link into the references to death in the poem. Perhaps one of the beings is an elder demon reminiscing of its earlier years happily torturing helpless souls, a theme that is also explored in the Echoing Green poem.
Hellzone character development using a previous painting as the source of the background texture.
I can see further possibilities coming out of the silhouettes of these guys.

Here are some quick thumbnails created in response to re-reading the Echoing Green by William Blake I decided to focus on the old man and the tree mentioned in the poem in this series of thumbnails. I attempted to derive an interesting narrative of sorts and perhaps generate some more obscure or abstract ideas that I could potentially work up in the future.
I will continue to produce more thumbnails to further explore the tree and the old man idea as well as other aspects of the poem.
In particular the floating potentially meditating figure in image 2 of row 1 catches my attention so I will work this into a further developed piece.

Echoing Green
The Green Man
The Green Elder
All of these pieces were created from the Green Abstract texture image I cut and pasted parts of the image and messed around with various blend modes until I started to get the feel of a character silhouette appearing in the centre.
From here I painted many odd and largely random marks in many different blend modes until a humanoid creature begins to emerge. I notice a very liquid or gel esc appearance emerging and decide to capitalise on it.
The Final image (Echoing Green) depicting slimy egg or pod like objects were actually constructed from the green man by duplicating and flipping the image vertically I then created gradually shrinking instances fading into the distance to represent the illusion of depth.
